Workshop on life, philosophy, teachings and beliefs of Mahatma Gandhi as part of the celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at the premises of AIIMS, New Delhi
Department of museology organised a workshop on life, philosophy, teachings and beliefs of Mahatma Gandhi as part of the celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at the premises of AIIMS, New Delhi. The participants of the workshops were the patients of paediatric ward ages ranging from 4 to 10 years.
Students of M.A. Museology begun the event with skit conceptualized by them, guided by Prof. Manvi Seth. The skit starts with storytelling on life of Gandhiji engaging the children of wards by questioning their knowledge and understandings about Gandhiji in fun filled ways. Demonstrating the items including the spinning wheels, how threads are made and values of self-reliance were being the major part to understand the teachings of simple living.
Student dressed as Gandhiji wearing Dhoti, Shawl, Kharam/Paaduka, pocket watch holding a stick to give the children an imaginary idea of appearance of the Mahatma. A vintage trunk (iron box) was prepared by the department in guidance of Prof. Seth, with pictures and images of Gandhiji, replicas of his belongings and his quotes.
The belongings were placed before the children and were instructed to make clay models. Students were also given origami papers and were being instructed to make paper crafts of items of their choices. |
